Inklings
Inklings is a monthly spiritual discovery group for 4-6 people, drawing on writing (or artwork) to explore the richness of lectio divina. Participants are introduced to, or invited to deepen their practice of, lectio divina, using texts from nature, scripture, or life experience.
Lectio divina is the ancient practice of dwelling deeply with a revelatory text, listening with the ear of the heart
and encountering God by
lingering with the text through logical study,
engaging it with the intuitive, aesthetic senses,
heeding the personal invitations we receive,
and abiding in wordless contemplation.
from Lectio Matters: Before the Burning Bush, Mary Margaret Funk, OSB
Sessions involve a short opening and introduction to the day's theme, followed by an extended time for participants to write or do artwork. During the last portion of the morning, we return to the group setting for reflection and structured conversation, providing the support and insight of the group as participants delve more deeply into what they have encountered in their scribbling time.
